Meet Miss Nancy

Hello!

I have taught piano for the past 15 years in and out of raising kids. We moved to  Mesa in June of 2015 and I am thoroughly enjoying the time and opportunity to improve my teaching abilities and expand my studio. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1991 focusing my electives in piano pedagogy and studying privately with Paul C. Pollei.   I am a new member of MTNA and currently shifting my studio toward the standards set by the Arizona Study Program and personally working towards becoming a certified music teacher through MTNA.

My husband, Pernell and I have six children, four daughters and two sons. Two of them, Kristin and Jessica and their families live fairly close, but everyone else lives away.  We enjoy being with them and our grandchildren whenever we can. We LOVE Lake Powell and enjoy cooking and taking our bikes when we travel.

Several years ago for my birthday in November, Pernell surprised me with a trip to Portland, OR to pick out a Steinway grand piano. (no sales tax in OR) I was so excited I couldn’t even step into the showroom when we went to start seriously looking. I couldn’t wait two months for them to ship it to AZ so we rented a Penske truck and I took three days to drive there to pick it up.  Pernell met me in Portland and we drove home in time for Christmas. Its sound is incredibly rich and more responsive than I can describe.  It seems like I only have to think what I want it to do and its there. It is such a joy to play.  I am so grateful for this beautiful instrument.

I look forward to meeting you!

Nancy
